Notes from the Club From Dave Johnson PER-Interim Club Manager (November 30, 2008) Happy Holidays! We are ready for the holidays thanks to the dedicated volunteers that keep us going. Thanks to all the bartenders for a great job. During the holidays, we will try to keep egg nog on hand for those holiday drinks, and of course we always have a good supply of Crown Royal. We also still have Patron tequila plus wine and beer. For munchies, we have chips, jerky, candy bars, nuts, and free popcorn. We are continuing food each Friday (normally Brats and Kraut for a donation of $2). We start serving at noon, and if you need to get back to work, we will even give you a to-go box. Come down and support your Lodge. Proceeds go to the building fund. The Welcome Home party for Daniel Galvan was a great success. A dinner was served, and there was a live DJ. After over four months of paramedic training back east, we welcome home our Lecturing Knight. If you would like to book the Lodge for a party, give us a call. Our rates are reasonable. We can supply the liquor, as long as all attendees are legitimate guests. The Club again this year will host an “afternoon” New Year’s eve Party. The Lodge will supply party favors and champagne, as well as snacks, for $5. We are asking members to bring other dishes to pass. We will ring in the New Year at 5 pm (New Year’s in England). We ask that you sign up in advance. Sign up sheets are also at the bar for the Kids Christmas Party and the Veterans Christmas Meal. During the Holidays, have a good time, but remember the police will be on patrol. Drink Responsibly. Merry Christmas.

Bingo Committee From Dave Johnson PER—Asst. Manager (November 30, 2008) We gave away the $400 in November, and are starting December with the progressive call top three lines game at 30 numbers on December 1st. Richard Kohn has asked to step down as a caller due to circumstance beyond his control. For now he will continue as Bingo Manager. If there is anyone interested in calling Bingo, please see Mike or Dave. There is a required background check and a notarized form that needs to be filled out before you can call. You also have to be a member of this Lodge for at least six months. Thanks to Marleen Kent for taking over pull tabs for the winter. We appreciate you help. Thanks to Roxy Dubiskas PER for the snacks on Thanksgiving week. Don’t forget, Christmas snacks on the 22nd and a door prize on the 29th. Monday night Elks Bingo at the Moose is open to the public.

Notes from the Club From Dave Johnson PER– Interim Manager (October 31, 2008). We have made a few changes to make the Club a little nicer for our members. First, we are trying to keep the Lodge clean. The carpet in the Lodge room (dining room) has been cleaned, and the club floor is being mopped weekly. The men’s rest room floor has been repainted. Remember, this is our home away from home. Please try to keep things clean. If you make a mess with popcorn or tobacco, ask for a broom and clean it up. Remember, we have no janitor, so it is up to all of us to lend a hand. Our volunteer bartenders have enough to deal with, so as they used to say back in the 70’s, “Keep it Clean”. We again have potato and corn chips available at the bar, as well as nuts and jerky. And we are attempting a noon meal, normally brats and kraut, on Fridays at noon. Come down and support your Lodge. We are still working on some kind of daily food and ordering new glassware. No action could be taken since there was not a quorum at the Governing Board meeting in October. Also, after requests from some members, we will now stock Black Velvet, Lord Calvert, and Jose Cuervo. I would especially like to thank all the volunteer bartenders who have stepped up and are helping to cover our shifts during Bill Snell’s recovery. We lost a couple after my appointment as Interim manager, which I regret, however we were able to fill the schedule with some new faces. Again, thanks so much. We are making every effort to keep the club open during advertised hours (11:30 am-7 pm weekdays, and 1-7 pm Saturday). The Club will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Enjoy this time with family and friends.

Bingo Committee From Dave Johnson PER—Asst. Manager (October 31, 2008). We had a $400 winner on October 20th on 50 numbers, and will be calling 35 numbers for the $400 on the top three lines progressive call game on November 3rd. The players were also treated to Halloween snacks and goodies on October 27th. They were enjoyed by all. Thanks go out to Roxy Dubiskas for putting it all together. After numerous announcements, and adding a “no glue allowed” house rule, we are still having problems with players gluing to the tables. This is a cleaning nightmare. If you play Bingo, please DON’T USE GLUE. If you are caught using glue, YOU will clean the table before leaving. We like to be friendly with our players, but enough is enough. We do sell scotch tape as an alternative. The gift certificate on November 24th will be from Peppers. See you at Bingo Monday at the Moose Lodge.

The Elk National Foundation awards over $2 million in college scholarships to 500 high school seniors nationwide each year through the most Valuable Student program. Notes from the Club From Dave Johnson— Interim Club Manager (September 30, 2008) With Bill Snell being out of pocket for several months as he recovers from surgery, it is more important than ever that WE ALL WORK TOGETHER! At the Governing Board meeting on the 25th Exalted Ruler Mike Hedrick asked if I would, on an interim basis, take on the responsibilities of Bar Manager. I did not really want this job. After all I already run a business. But with the idea that if something is important enough, you will find the time, and for the good of the Lodge, I reluctantly accepted with the understanding that I would have the support of the Lodge and its members. As manager, I would be responsible for the budget, inventory, scheduling, license renewal, special events (with the approval of the board), and would fill in as a “last resort” bartender. I will ask the governing board for permission to name a “right-hand man”. That person would have access to stored liquor. This has been a problem lately. The person designated could also make decisions in the absence of the Manager. The key to successfully running this club (and Lodge) is to work together as brothers and sisters, and I know we can. Think of why we all volunteered in the first place, and what it means to be an Elk. I’ve got some ideas I think you’ll like. First, I will immediately look into the feasibility of bringing back some kind of snacks, even if it means buying smaller quantities. I will also look into the possibility of serving some kind of food each day. Remember when we used to serve burgers and dogs We might even look at something micro-wavable. But these thing will require the cooperation of the bartenders, and consent of the board and Lodge. If you have ideas, let me know. Look at the days we put on Friday meals. Our income on the bar is always up. We need to continue these meals too. And thanks to Joe Grove, Pat Johnson and everyone else who have put on those lunches. Another idea is to look into a Margarita Night, with drinks included with the cost of your meal. (We’ll need to be careful here to comply with state laws) As club manager I would also do some maintenance, such as cleaning the carpet, re-painting the rest room floor, and getting the back kitchen cleaned. Help is always appreciated. I will also do my best to have consistent hours, Monday through Friday 11:30 till 7 pm, and Saturday from 1 till 7 pm. The only way to do that is to get some of our other volunteers back. Even if it is just a couple of times a month, it helps out. If you’re not here because of something that was said, on behalf of the Lodge I apologize. I will be looking through those certified and making some calls. Until Bill’s back, we need to put petty differences aside and work together to keep our club open. If anyone has questions or problems, call me. If you have a concern, I guarantee it will be taken through proper channels (the Governing Board). My cell phone number is 543-8600. Feel free to call.

Bingo Committee From Dave Johnson PER—Asst. Manager (September 30, 2008) At this writing, we have one more Bingo session in September, at which we will be calling 40 numbers for the $400 top three lines progressive call game. If we don’t get a winner, we will be calling 45 numbers on Oct. 6th. If you don’t want to work Bingo, how about coming down and playing. The new Mystery Games have been met with mixed reaction. Remember, Mystery games are here for a limited time, and then are changed. If you don’t like the games we have now, they will not be here forever. Once we do our next quarterly distribution, we plan to recommend a donation to Cerebral Palsy, our state’s major project. Currently our members have given about $850. To meet our per capita we need $1980. We still plan to sell our paper “Pigs”, and that will help. Keep watching for details. Besides Bingo, we also have pull tabs (a new box should be opened this week), and a 50/50 Teddy Bear raffle. Doors open at 6, Early Bird Bingo is at 6:30, and Regular Bingo at 7. We play at the Moose Lodge on North Gold. See you there!

Notes from the Club From Bill Snell—Club Manager (August 31, 2008) Brats, brats, brats, no not the customers, it’s Friday lunch. Joe Grove is serving Brats and Sauerkraut. $2.00 is a great deal! You have a choice of regular or Jalapeno. And, occasionally there is an additional choice of Sloppy Joes. Joe is also working on a “Dog Day”. Fix hotdogs or chili dogs your way. Watch the board at the Lodge for details. So stop in and have a drink or two and help support the building fund. All proceeds of the lunch sales go to the fund. This coming weekend is Labor Day. I hope everyone has a great weekend. However, be aware that the DWI enforcers are going to be real busy all three days. Please play it safe, do not drink and drive. Have a designated driver who can deliver anyone to their home. Yes, the bar will be open on Monday from 1 pm until 6 pm.

Breakfast From Bill Snell, Chairman (August 31, 2008) Well folks we did it again. With 161 meals served and a new record of $301 net proceeds, we beat last year’s figures. This could not have happened without a great team of workers. The committee only had two meetings to organize the operation. The breakfast went on without a hitch. They say you should not toot your own horn, but there is no way I cannot give a large “toot” for the people on this committee. They work as a well oiled team and it shows in the results. My compliments to H.L. Burdette, Sue Burdette, Alice Carter, Roxy Dubiskas, Anna Enciso, Penny Gallosa, Mike Hedrick, Dave Johnson, Fred Kent, Marlene Kent, Harriet Kirch, Rob Kirich, Bud Rzasa, and Jo Ann Snell. You all did a great job, and I hope you will work as well for next year’s chairman.

Bingo Committee From Dave Johnson PER—Asst. Manager (August 31, 2008) After a recommendation from the Bingo Committee, the Lodge approved donations of $750 from Bingo charity money for both Elks National Foundation and the Charitable and Benevolent Trust (a total of $1500). Both donations were already in the Bingo budget. With those two donations, plus what has already been donated with dues and received from meals, we should make both per capita’s. Right now we are still short on CP and Veterans Services. There was no Bingo on August 25th as everyone recovered from the Duck Race, but there will be Bingo on Labor Day, September 1st, when we will be calling 35 numbers for the $400 on the top three lines progressive call game. There will also be two door prizes in September; one on the 1st from Pepper’s Supermarket, and on the 29th from the Adobe Deli. Sometime in the next month, the Bingo Committee will be changing the mystery games. Eight new games will be selected to replace those played for the past several months. The mystery games are not announced until just before cards are sold. And the 50/50 Teddy Bear raffle continues each week, as well as pull tabs. The Moose Lodge is also serving up some delicious food before and during Bingo. Come down and join us Mondays at the Moose Lodge, 110 N. Gold. Doors open at 6, early bird Bingo at 6:30, and regular Bingo at 7 pm. See you there.

Notes from the Club From Bill Snell- Club Manager (July 31, 2008) Well we made it through another month. Sales were good even though this is usually the low month of the year. The bartender situation worked out largely to the efforts of all the gang. But a special thanks go out to Don Damstra who jumped in to fill most of the slots I had open. A great job Don, much thanks, you were a big help. With the vacationing bartenders back on the job it looks like we are out of the woods for a while. In fact we may be adding a few new bartenders shortly. The more we have the less any one has to work. Remember, drink wisely and drive safely.

Bingo Report From Dave Johnson PER- Asst. Manager (July 31, 2008) Several new faces can now be seen at Bingo. Thanks to Alice Carter and Jo Ann Snell for stepping up and helping. Since I am calling several weeks a month, their help at the cashiers desk is greatly appreciated, especially during vacations. Two other members have also expressed an interest in helping. Both Ron and Dana Bivens have been submitted to gaming, and can now work Bingo. Recently Gene Logan also joined the crew, and we thank him for his help with pull tabs. It’s good to see members stepping up to help keep Bingo going. We could still use a few more callers. Manager Richard Kohn calls once a month now, and Pat Johnson may also call sometime in the future. To be a caller, you must be a member for a minimum of six month (at this Lodge), and fill out paperwork allowing for a background check. The Lodge then pays a $20 fee, and a state issues a special name badge. The Bingo Committee will also recommend that we pay $700 to both ENF and C & B Trust out of Bingo charity money already budgeted. That request will be made at the meeting on the 21st. The August gift certificate, for $20, will be from Pepper’s Supermarket on the 25th. We will see you at Bingo Monday night at the Moose. Doors open at 6.

Notes from the Club From Bill Snell- Club Manager (June 30, 2008) The bartender situation has improved somewhat. But we are not out of the woods at all. I listened to several members who expressed their ideas about the shortened hours. The majority felt that the hours should be be 1:00 to 6:00, so be it. On days when there are two bartenders the hours will be as usual. I would like to remind all of our members that we are in the summer 100 days of heavy DWI checks. The penalties can be very costly and not worth it for a few extra drinks. Please also consider the effect on the Lodge and the bartender if you are stopped and do not pass the test. Please drink sensibly and be safe. Somehow left out a section from last months report. During the month of May there were days I thought we might have to go with shortened hours or even close. Thanks to two people we made it through and stayed open. A special thanks to Jim Lyons and Steve Alba for jumping in when needed.

Bingo Report From Dave Johnson PER- Asst. Manager (June 30, 2008) At the meeting on June 5th, after much discussion, it was decided not to accept a proposal to pay Bingo workers $25 a week. This has led to some major changes at Bingo, and we could use your help. Richard Kohn will continue as Bingo Manager, however he will be calling only once a month. Pat Johnson has volunteered to call once a month, and Anna Enciso has expressed an interest, but we still need to file the paperwork. Joe LeDuc is still considering whether to come back. Joe has called for us in the past. I have been calling on the open weeks, which creates the need for an additional cashier. Last Monday we worked with five members, one of which was working pull tabs. This is the minimum needed. Just let us know you can help us work Bingo, and we will send your name to the Gaming Board. We only need to send your name. Callers however require a minimum of six months in the Lodge, paperwork, and then a state issued ID badge. We will be calling 55 numbers for the $400 on the top-three lines progressive call game on June 30th. The money is sure to go. Since both Mike and I will be at the Grand Lodge convention, there will be no Bingo on the 7th. Our first Bingo in July will be on the 14th. Doors open at 6 pm at the Moose Lodge on Gold.

Notes from the Club From Bill Snell—Club Manager (May 31, 2008) We have been able to add two more bartenders to the roster. Welcome Joe Grove PER and Roger Bladow. They both will be working day shirts. We are still in need of night time bartenders through. We are trying to schedule two meals a month at the club. If you can help or put on a meal contact Penny Gallosa, our meal planner. The special drink for last month was a great success. Have not picked out the one for June but can tell you it will be based on Brandy. Watch in the lodge for signs with the names and the prices of the specials. The bar continues to do well, sales are up and that means more contributions to the building fund. Remember drink wisely and drive safely.

Notes from the Club From Bill Snell—Club Manager (April 30, 2008). We are still looking for bartenders.  If we do not have enough people to cover all the shifts we may be faced with shortened hours.  So please give it some thought.  If you can do just one shift a month that is one less for someone else to do.  Day shifts are from 11:00 to 4:00 PM and easy work. Next time in, check out some of the new drink material we have, new beers and new liquor.  For the tequila connoisseur we now have Patron at just $5.00 a shot.  Evan Williams bourbon is replacing the old well bourbon. Special drinks for the month of May, or until the supply runs out, are an Amaretto Stone Sour at $2.00.  Or if that does not suit your fancy, how about a Tawny Russian for the same price.  Do not know what they are??  Just stop in and ask the bartender or try one. The bar is doing well and contributing to the new building.  Thanks to all of you who are supporting us.

Bingo Committee From Dave Johnson PER—Asst. Manager (April 30, 2008). Due to the Memorial Day Holiday in May, we will only have three weeks of Bingo. That also mean our door prize drawing will be on the 19th, instead of the 26th. By then we should have given away the $400 on the top three lines. We will be calling 40 numbers on April 28th, 45 on the 5th, and if we still haven’t given it away, 50 numbers on the 12th. Remember, Elks Bingo is open to the public, and every regular game pays a minimum of $100. Doors open at 6, early bird Bingo at 6:30, and regular Bingo at 7 pm every Monday night at the Moose Lodge, 110 N. Gold. Smokers are welcome. We are anxious to get into our new facility on Raymond Reed Blvd. A proposal may be made at the next meeting that we purchase tables and chairs (estimated at about $3500). These will be needed before we begin Bingo. We already have the Bingo Board and console and smoke-eaters for the new room. With that purchase, we will be ready as soon as the walls and bathrooms are set. If you would like to help with Bingo, please let us know. We just need to get your name sent to Gaming, and you can start. Remember, you must be a member. Spouses of members cannot work Bingo per state law. Call either Mike Hedrick or Dave Johnson if you can help.

Notes from the Club From Bill Snell—Bar Manager (March 31, 2008) Bartenders, bartenders, bartenders, where for art thou bartenders. Too few bartenders are working too many shifts, as high as sixteen a month.  This is a strain on them and their families. More people willing to share the work load would reduce it for everyone. Please consider volunteering to take the class and just do even one shift a month.  The one you take is one less that someone else will not have to do.  And it can be a lot of fun. I am planning to add more types of and brands of beer to our inventory.  With the activation of the cooler we bought there is more room to allow us to improve our offerings.  If there is something, you would like us carry let one of the bartenders, or myself, know what you would like. With the Bingo moving to the Moose Lodge the sales of dated bar snacks are way down.  So for the immediate future we will not carry short-dated items such as chips and pretzels.  I am looking into another source of small lot snacks that may let us start again. Drink wisely and drive safely.

Bingo Committee From Dave Johnson PER—Asst. Manager (March 31, 2008) It should go this week or next! Our top-three lines for the $400 payout will be at 45 numbers March 31st, and 50 the week after. Changes are we will have a winner, so come on down to the Moose Lodge Monday night. Due to his many other responsibilities, Bill Snell has announced that he will take a less active role. Moni Barba will be taking over pull tabs at Bingo, but Bill has agreed to stay on the committee for now. And house rules have been changed with “participation” defined as “buying a pack” after a question from a player.

From the DDGER Paul L. Stevens - SW District (March 31, 2008) As the Elks year comes to a close, I want you, your officers, Members and wives of Lodge 2799 to know how much I appreciate what you have done for Elkdom. You all stepped forward to take on the challenge, and I think we have had a very successful year. Many goals were achieved, and we all still have some challenges for the coming year. Please continue giving your support and cooperation to the 2008-09 officers as they begin a new Lodge year. My wife, Helen and I are very appreciative of your hospitality and courtesies when we made our official visit to the Deming Lodge. We value your friendship and enjoyed getting to know you better.

Club Report From Fred Kent PER– Bar Manager (February 29, 2008) This will be my last input as the bar and club manager. I have retired as of this month. We need to continue our support of the bar and club as this is a major portion of our income for the Lodge. Bill Snell has been appointed to replace me since he has been doing the job for several months already. It has been fun but three years is enough. Continue to support your club and if you want any exotic drinks tell Bill.

Bingo Report From Dave Johnson PER– Asst. Manager (February 29, 2008) Three members of the Bingo committee recently attended a meeting in Sunland Park concerning proposed policy changes. Assistant Managers Mike Hedrick and Dave Johnson PER, and Cashier Harriet Kirich attended the New Mexico Gaming Control Board meeting. Most of the changes have to do with reporting requirements. None of the proposed changes will effect the day-to-day operation of Bingo. We are about ready to give away the $400. We will be calling 50 numbers on the top-three-lines the first week in March. Come down for a chance to win. Welcome to our newest volunteer, Monje Barba, who was initiated in February, and started working Bingo just a few days later. Thank you! Remember Elks Bingo is open to the public Monday night at the Moose Lodge. Doors open at 6, Early Bird Bingo at 6:30, and regular Bingo at 7 pm. Pull tabs are available all night long.

Bingo Report From Dave Johnson PER– Asst. Manager (January 31, 2007) Elks Bingo is again selling pull-tabs! Last month several members of the Bingo Committee negotiated an agreement with the Moose Lodge to store a locked cabinet at their facility for pull-tabs. The additional $20 a week was approved by the membership on January 17th, and a copy of the lease was sent the next day to the State Gaming Board. That means we will again begin selling 25 and 50 cent as well as $1.00 pull-tabs. Since we started using the Moose facility several months ago, we have not offered these games. Also, the 50/50 cash raffle will continue, in addition to early bird and regular Bingo. More than $1500 in prizes each week! We will be calling 50 numbers on the top three lines progressive call game Monday, January 28th. If we don’t have a winner, then we will be at 55 on the 4th. It’s a chance at a $400 prize. We thank all our members and players for putting up with conditions at the Moose, and look forward to our move soon to our New Lodge. Elks Bingo is open to the public.

Club Report From Fred Kent PER– Bar Manager (January 31, 2008) Another month has gone by. Time really flies when you are having fun. The bar business is picking up and Super Bowl Sunday should bring a crowd. There will be snacks and some chili. Not for the faint hearted. The cooler problem continues to bug us, however the beer is ice cold and plenty of it. This problem probably will not be fixed until we can move to new quarters. If somebody has a solution please let us know. Remember this is your club so patronize it. There is always a smiling face behind the bar to welcome you. Thanks to Jim Lyons, we now have a computer at the Lodge. Come on down and get on-line even if you don’t have your own computer. There is no charge for members or their guests. Also, keep in mind new prices go into effect this month. Most drinks are 25-50 cents higher. The action was taken by the Governing Board to offset increases from our suppliers.

Hoop Shoot From Javier Gallosa—Hoop Shoot Chairman (December 31, 2007) The local Hoop Shoot was held on December 8th, and thanks go out to many for making the event a success. 34 contestants participated, with 13 Elks members and friends there to keep score. Winners in the boys’ division: 8-9 years, Dante Urea; 10-11, Jose Tafoya, 12-13, Zachary Dominguez. In the girls’ division: 8-9 years, Suzette Dominguez, 10-11, Rebeceh Gallosa, and 12-13, Moriya Gallosa. Winners received a basketball from Hibbett Sports, and a T-Shirt and Sweatshirt from the T-Shirt Print Shop. Everyone that participated received pizza, coke, a shirt and certificate. Thanks go out to all the sponsors who contributed in various ways to make the event a success: Keep Luna County Beautiful, Peppers Supermarket, DIMS, Dominos, Hibbett Sports, NAPA, T-Shirt Print Shop, the Alignment Shop, Brian, Ray’s United and DJ Monkey. The Elks are especially appreciative of a $750 grant from Keep Luna County Beautiful for the hoop shoot. To receive the grant Lodge members and volunteers went out early on December 15th and picked up trash. Thank you to Bill Snell, Harriett Kirich, Nancy Galvan, Monica Corona, Daniel Galvan, Ernie Corona, Sylvia and Robert Diharce, the three Gallosa kids, Ernie Arrey, James Stailey, Penny Gallosa, Javier Gallosa, Armando Galvan, Rick Bishop, Pat Johnson, Alex Golie and kids, David Holguin, JoAnn Snell and Rob Kirich. Many of the volunteers also helped with the actual hoop shoot just a week earlier. With the number participating it took no time at all to collect the required 38 bags of trash. Winners advance to the District Hoop Shoot in Las Cruces on January 5th.

Club Report From Fred Kent PER– Bar Manager (December 31, 2007) 2007 is now history. Here’s wishing everyone a Happy & Prosperous New Year. At the Board of Governors meeting December 27th it was decided to raise the price of all alcoholic drinks at the bar. We cannot continue to absorb the price increases from the distributors. As of February 1st the price of beer, wine and well drinks will increase by 25 cents. The price of call drinks will increase 50 cents. That means $2.50 drinks will be $3, and $3 drinks will be $3.50. This will be the first increase since I have been a member of this Lodge. Our prices will still remain competitive with other service club bars. The parties planned will help our income considerably. Anyone interested in a birthday, anniversary, or any other party, consider the Elks Club room. We have room and facilities for any reasonable crowd. The only restrictions are that every guest not an Elk or spouse must be signed in and are the responsibility of the person signing them in. Let’s hope 2008 will be the best year of the Deming Elks Lodge so far. We must work hard to get into the new building as soon as possible. With the help of the members it can be done. Use the Club it is yours for your enjoyment. See you here.

Bingo Report From Dave Johnson PER– Asst. Manager (December 31, 2007) Bingo will continue at the Moose Lodge each Monday until we can get into our new facilities. Doors open at 6, Early bird Bingo at 6:30, and regular Bingo at 7 pm. We are currently working with the Moose on storage space so we can again offer pull tabs. Keep listening to the radio and watch the newspaper for more information. Remember, Elks Bingo is open to the general public. The Bingo committee has decided to change a couple of our games. We will drop both “The Pipe” and “The Number 4”. One game will be replaced with “the small diamond and four outside corners”, and the other will be designated as a “mystery” game, which can change among eight various games each week. The changes will take effect with our first regular session of 2008 on January 7th. The committee, with approval of the Lodge, will offer four local scholarships this year, each for $500, for a total of $2,000. Last year the Lodge gave $1000 in scholarships, so this year we are doubling that amount. The scholarships are reviewed by the Bingo Committee. From the Bingo Committee, Happy New Year, and we’ll see you Monday.

Bingo Report From Dave Johnson PER– Asst. Manager (November 30, 2007) For anyone that follows Bingo, you probably know by now that there have been some changes. We are in the process of negotiating with the Moose Lodge to remain there until the new Lodge is ready. As you may know, the DAV Hall was closed down for several weeks, and has now implemented a “no smoke” policy. Since we have so many players that smoke, we have decided to try to stay at the Moose Lodge, 110 N. Gold, where we have been playing for the past four weeks. The players were delighted with the 14 turkeys we raffled and the pie we gave out for Thanksgiving. The Bingo Committee has recommended that we do something very similar (possibly with summer sausage) for our final game before Christmas on the 17th. We will also have a gift certificate that night from El Rey Meat Market. There will be no Bingo on the 24th, Christmas eve, or the 31st, New Year’s Eve. From all of us on the Bingo Committee, have a Merry Christmas.

Club Report From Fred Kent PER– Bar Manager (November 30, 2007) The bar business is slowing down as is typical for the Holiday season. We should see an increase soon when everyone gets their Thanksgiving meal(s) digested and on their feet again. The new building has been partially vacated and as soon as we can get the last of the junk out we can start work. Anyone is welcome to come over and help. Just let me know at the bar and I will see that you get into the building. There will be considerable outside work too, with the cleaning up of the weeds and junk. The sooner we can get to work the sooner we can move the bar over. We also need to get the Bingo set up so we can get out of the Moose Lodge. We need more room and more help. The new Lodge has the possibility of an outside patio and a serve through from the kitchen and from the bar. The Luna-Tics, our fledgling camping group has a campout scheduled for the weekend of 15 through 18 Dec at the new building. This will be a working weekend for the building and lot. Anyone is welcome to come and help if only for a few hours. Patronize your club and bar, it is there for your enjoyment.
